Psihoyos v. John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
In this case, the plaintiff filed suit against the defendant for the defendant's publication of textbooks containing eight of plaintiff’s photographs. It was not upheld because the plaintiff did not register the relevant photographs with the Copyright Office prior to instituting suit. My final project is to make a digital story about my topic. It will include a series of images and photos as well as an audio of me doing storytelling. I will make it into a movie.
My project is about the cultural impact that Starbucks has made in changing chinese culture. The intended audience is mainly my English teacher and my classmates. Yet since the contents will finally be posted on this website. The audience will be extended to the general public. For the sake of attraction, we build on our project as constructing a digital story. Storytelling is much more appealing than just plain paper writing.
The purpose of my project is to demonstrate the connection between food and culture. To convey it clearly, I will first briefly talk about Starbucks's history and development together with its distinctiveness. Secondly, I will explore its impact in changing Chinese lifestyle and the new meaning of Starbucks as interpreted by Chinese people. Finally, I will analyze the trend toward cultural transformation and combination under globalization. The sources are credible. They are all scholarly sources including books and articles. The mode is digital story, which will do a great job to convey the information o The proposed layout is very evident. Its color choices are clear, mainly containing red, yellow, and white. This color combination gives a feeling of warmth which corresponds to its topic about kitchen. The color for words makes them readable as well. The images are used. Their placement is somewhat purposeful in which they can add more impression of the website after the readers browse the previous contents. The fonts are interesting-looking and attractive.
My favorite website is called Bilibili TV, which is a major Japanese anime website. The proximity is not implementd clearly here. It looks like all sections and video frames are separa In my opinion, a university website's home page mainly appeals to high school students who are interest in this university and want to know more about the university. For Emory University website's home page, the emphasis is mainly on some breaking news and successful experiences or discoveries by Emory-associated people. I think this implies Emory's strong academic and social background, which Emory wants to show to the students and attract them to apply. So the primary audience is high school students, and Emory assumes that they are looking for Emory's academic and social background. I do not see any more information but standard univeristy information. However, providing information like a letter from the president can make students more interested in the university, because the president's thoughts and beliefs are very important in build
In doing research for my paper, I have seen some texts about the moon cake and culture in personal blogs, articles in newspapers, and articles in journals. The main mode that those authors use to communicate is the linguistic mode, together with the visusl mode (some pictures displayed). The spatial mode is used in which the appearance of the moon cake and its filling are firstly introduced, followed with its history and some related stories, and then ts production and consumption nowadays. This order gives readers a clear understanding of the moon cake and its relation to culture. The aural and gestural modes are less likely seen. Although all talking about the moon cake, the authors put their focus on different aspects. One research article is mainly focused on the difference between American festivals and Chinese festivals, so words are used to make analysis throughout the article with few pictures. Another text is from a journal at a personal blog, so the author includes a lot of pictures to describe her experience with
The aspects to help foster a positive work experience include participation in discussion, preparation before each team meeting, patience to listen to different arguments, submitting work on time, planning ahead of time, managing time efficiently, and wise allocation of different types of work (based on group members' different skills). The aspects that often creat problems include loose concentration during group discussion, insufficient preparation, impatience which can cause arguments among members who hold opposite ideas, late submission of work, managing time poorly, and bad work allocation.
DOs: 1. Be active during group discussion. 2. Listen to other ideas carefully. 3. Do some analysis of different ideas with team members. 4. Record on your calendar to manage time. 5. Show up on each group meeting. 6. Tell your group members about the skills you are good at. DON'Ts 1. Don't be absent-minded during group discussion. 2. Don't lose patience to listen to others. 3. Don't be late for each meeting. 4. Don't miss the part that you are responsible for. 5. Don't be lazy to do some preparation by yourself. 6. Don't take the part of the work that you are not good at. |
