ARE YOU HUNGRY?
This Japanese food blog is called Just Hungry.” It is very interesting and attractive to me.
First of all, I am hooked by this food blog’s name---“Just Hungry.” It is not a very distinctive but merely a common blog name; however, it has the power to remind me of hunger. After seeing such a name on the Google search page, I feel an indescribable need to hunt for food (even just a little bit of snacks). Therefore, the little name hook induces a click on the link, which brings me into this brilliant Japanese food blog.
Entering its homepage, I see a big tempting picture of Japanese Pepper-Lemon Chicken Karraage. The picture is so visually appealing with its gold fried appearance. Even though those chicken pieces look the same as normal fried chicken, they taste very different with a distinctive spicy and salty flavor. I have tasted them while I was 13 years travelling in Japan. Besides the chicken picture, I enjoyed the general structure design of this food blog. The blog title is headed at the very top of the page, simple and clear. There is a big pan on the left side and three small pans on the right side, which build an atmosphere of cooking. The pan on the left with a smiling face on it is left open, which seems like an elf welcoming people to discover what delicious food is in the pan. This further vivifies the headline. Also this headline and its surroundings mostly contain green elements which make me feel comfortable and relaxing. These two feelings are what food can bring to people. Sliding down from the top, there are 10 newest posts briefly revealed with large and clear pictures that are associated with their topics. Good pictures like those in this food blog improve communication, in which they convey important information to the audiences and resonate with audiences’ feeling. For example, I became very hungry when I saw the picture of Dorayaki in one of the recipe. On the right of the posts, there is a wide column containing several articles in different categories such as “Newest Posts”, “Explore Japan & More With Me”, etc. Visitors may find some interesting topics immediately when they slide down and browse the homepage.
I like the contents of this food blog as well. Not as other food blogs, it not only contains blog posts about Japanese food and recipe, but also has posts about Japanese history and culture. For example, the second post on the homepage is named “Masataka Taketsuru, The Father of Japanese Whiskey And His Two Loves.” This post talks about the introduction and the history of whiskey in Japan, together with the story of the Father of Japanese Whiskey. I find the story very fascinating and appealing.
The overall tone of this food blog is relaxing and pleasant, which I think is very comfortable for the audience, so I will also create this kind of tone by including some of my personal anecdotes. Also as in this food blog, I will design my blog visually appealing and structurally convenient. The only thing that I dislike about this food blog is that there are no procedure pictures in the recipes. I think procedure pictures are very crucial to give instructions on how to properly make delicious food. By comparing pictures and what I have, I can know whether I am on the right way. So in my own blog, I will try my best to include them.
